The all-new Jeep Wrangler 4xe is a plug-in hybrid vehicle that not only offers up to an EPA-estimate 50 MPGe, but you can drive up to 25 miles without emitting a single drop of gasoline. That’s because of the usage of a 375-hp powertrain comprised of:
- Turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine used in other Wrangler models
- Engine-mounted motor generator unit
- TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission with an integrated motor generator unit
- 400-volt, 17 kWh, 96-cell lithium-ion, nickel manganese cobalt battery pack mounted below the 2nd-row seat
Charging the 4xe is a breeze thanks to the push-open/push-close cover on the left front cowl. There are LED indicators of charging status right on the port and you can check the charge status with the LED battery level monitor on top of the instrument panel.
2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Specs & Capability
In terms of the drive you can get in the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, you’ll be able to choose from 3 E Selec modes of operation:
- Hybrid, which is the default mode that blends torque from both the 2.0L engine & electric motor
- Electric, which is when zero-emission power is used until the battery reaches the minimum charge or if you want more torque
- eSave, which prioritizes power from the 2.0L engine & saves the battery charge for later use that can be switched via the Hybrid Electric Pages on the Uconnect display
The 4xe is like other 2021 Jeep Wrangler models at our dealership serving Paramus NJ in terms of off-roading. That’s because of the use of features like:
